House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter, R-Rainsville, appointed Rep. Jeff Sorrells, R-Hartford, to be the chair of the House Health Committee on Wednesday.

Sorrells was appointed after House Majority Leader Paul Lee, R-Dothan, stepped down from the committee. Lee said he served on the committee for 16 years, and as chair for almost half.
