Republican gubernatorial candidate Aaron Guckian secured the state GOP’s endorsement in the only contested state or federal seat vetted during the party’s statewide contention at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet in Cranston Thursday night.

Guckian secured the Republican endorsement over primary rival Elaine Pelino by a 72-44 vote, with 10 participants opting not to endorse, according to information supplied by William Ricci Jr., secretary for the state party convention. Endorsements were made by secret ballot.
