Maine state Sen. James Libby (R-Cumberland) has withdrawn his bid for the Republican nomination for governor, after failing to qualify for clean election funding.

“As I did not qualify for Clean Elections financial support, I have determined that my campaign is no longer viable,” Libby said in a Facebook post Thursday. “I want to thank my supporters, and certainly wish that I could have given you the outcome that you fought for.”
