Republican Sen. Jonathan Dismang, the co-chair of the Joint Budget Committee and an architect of Arkansas’ hybrid Medicaid expansion, resigned from the state Senate Tuesday to take a job at Arkansas Electric Cooperatives.

Dismang has served nearly two decades in the Arkansas Legislature, including two consecutive terms as Senate president pro tempore. He served one term in the Arkansas House of Representatives before being elected in 2010 to the Arkansas Senate.
