An Alabama Senate committee on Tuesday approved a $3.7 billion General Fund budget for 2027 on Tuesday morning, a $8.1 million (0.2%) increase over the current year’s budget.

The Senate Finance and Taxation General Fund Committee’s approved budget is about $37 million higher than Gov. Kay Ivey’s recommendation, and provides increases for state employee pay and a funding increase for their health insurance, while leaving most other programs level-funded or cut.
