A chemical tank burst at a mill in Longview on Tuesday, killing at least one person and leaving nine others missing, authorities said.

The tank, containing a caustic solution known as white liquor, was reported to have ruptured around 7:20 a.m. at the Nippon Dynawave Packaging plant along the Columbia River, according to the local fire department. The chemical can cause severe burns.
