Five New Jersey military veterans were awarded Distinguished Service Medals Thursday, recognizing their enlistment in World War II.

Lt. Gov. Dale Caldwell and N.J. Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Vincent Solomeno III pinned the ribbons with round silver medals to the men’s chests at the event at the New Jersey World War II Memorial in Trenton.
