We have honored Cesar Chavez as a hero for decades. His name is on schools, streets and on holidays. Many of us were raised to see him as the face of the farmworker movement.

Recent reporting by The New York Times, along with confirmation from Dolores Huerta, has established that Chavez committed acts of sexual violence, including rape. Among the victims: Huerta, as well as underage girls.
