Rhode Island and Providence education officials say a loan forgiveness program for educators of color is “no longer in effect,” according to documents both organizations filed Friday in response to a U.S. Department of Justice complaint.

Both defendants want the feds’ complaint dismissed and are demanding a trial by jury.
