The United States Department of Energy announced Tuesday that Tennessee was one of the five states under consideration for a federal partnership as part of the Trump administration’s attempt to boost nuclear energy production.

The program, called the Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses, would allow Tennessee to build an industrial-like zone that could support “the full nuclear fuel lifecycle, including fuel fabrication, enrichment, reprocessing used nuclear fuel, and disposition of waste.”
