Iowa Republicans are challenging three Libertarian candidates’ place on the 2026 general election ballot based on paperwork errors, taking these challenges to the Iowa State Objections Panel next week.

The state Libertarian Party lost its major party status in 2024, after failing to gain the needed 2% of Iowans’ support for their top-of-the-ticket candidate when Libertarian presidential candidate Chase Oliver received just 0.4% of the vote.
