Plans to move forward with the Sims Gateway Project and other Port of Port Townsend projects are on hold after crews uncovered “culturally significant resources” while performing environmental studies in Boat Haven.

“We were just doing our thing, digging along and discovered indications of midden,” Port Director Eron Berg said.

That discovery triggered a series of consultations and notification of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe.
