Vice President JD Vance said Wednesday the Trump administration may require Minnesota to pay back $259 million in claims from the federal Medicaid program “in order to ensure that the state of Minnesota takes its obligations seriously to be good stewards of the American people’s tax money.”

Most of the money was paid out by the feds in 2025, but now Minnesota has to prove the legitimacy of the claims.
