DURHAM, NH — Contract negotiations between the University of New Hampshire and its faculty union are headed toward mediation after the two sides reached an impasse following more than 16 months of bargaining.

The University of New Hampshire chapter of the American Association of University Professors filed a petition with the New Hampshire Public Employee Labor Relations Board after 490 days of negotiations. The union represents tenure-track faculty at UNH.
