Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Dean Murray and volunteer EMT Barry Luke with East Jefferson Fire Rescue (EJFR) were honored by EJFR for their “heroic actions” while responding to a call on Jan. 27.

Murray was the first to arrive at the Port Ludlow Golf Course after a woman there became stuck in the mud while attempting to retrieve a golf ball from a pond, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).
