TEKOA — Voters have approved Whitman County Fire Protection District No. 1's annexation of the city of Tekoa Fire Department.

During the Tuesday, Aug. 4, primary election, Tekoa Proposition No. 1 received 138 votes, 92%, in favor of annexation and 12 votes, 8%, against in the initial returns. Unicorporated residents who vote within Whitman County Fire Protection District No. 1 also approved the annexation with 45 votes, 95.74%, in favor and two votes, 4.26% opposed.
