AIRWAY HEIGHTS – Rural voters will ultimately decide whether to create a long-term funding source for protecting the West Plains Aquifer.

The proposed Aquifer Protection Area proposal is on the Aug. 4 primary election ballot being sent to voters in unincorporated areas and surrounding Airway Heights, Cheney, Medical Lake and Spokane Valley.

If approved, property owners would be charged an annual fee to pay for groundwater monitoring, education and other related programs.
