West Virginia won’t accept any new immigrant detainees following a flurry of orders from federal judges saying that the state unlawfully held immigrants in its jails.

At the request of Gov. Patrick Morrisey, the state has partnered with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during President Donald Trump’s mass deportation campaign. It allows specially-trained police officers and jails to perform specified immigration enforcement functions.
