Last year, the West Virginia Legislature passed a law to require public and charter schools, public colleges and universities to display a “durable poster or framed copy of the United States motto, In God We Trust.”

They used the fact that it’s the United States motto to get it into schools, but their intention was actually to start to blur the line between church and state.
